Volition: Why or how did you create the Detoxifying Silt Gelee? Takako: I wanted a product that made the skin purified, and yet was not drying like most of the mask products. So, I looked for an ingredient that has not been contaminated with pollution. This concept lead me to a special peat. I made a combination of essential oils to re-create the feel of being in a Nordic forest to make this product.
How did you become a chemist? I went to Tokyo University expecting to be a medical doctor, but changed my mind after 2 years into it and took Biochemistry.
What inspires you? I was fascinated by the complexity of saccharoides in Aloe Vera and came to Dallas to learn more about it.
What is one thing that is on your bucket list? Around the world in 80 days, and of course, on the first class seat!
Takako Mohri McGowan received her Bachelor of Science degree from University of Tokyo, and a Masters degree in Bio-Chemistry from Canterbury University in New Zealand. Beginning her career by teaching both Japanese and Chemistry at the High School level, Takako continued on to become Vice President of a laboratory where she was responsible for stabilizing Aloe Vera for ingestible and cosmetic ingredients. After being appointed as President, Takako's responsiblities grew to manufacture skin, hair and body care products. With years of experience under her belt, Takako is currently the President of her own laboratory, TAKA USA, where she handles the formulation and production of OTC and personal care products.
