Known as the 'Miracle Balm' or ' Burmese skin secret' the Thanakha tradition is one that has been passed down by Burmese women for over 2000 years. Both rememdy and ritual the women of Myanmar still today, paint their faces with pulverized Thanakha tree bark - known for its rich skin-perfecting properties like complexion enhancement, pore refinement, and moisture regulation. [Enter Volition] ....it also makes for the perfect liquid bronzer! Since liquid bronzer can seem a little intimidating to those who haven't tried it before, I’m here to break it down
step-by-step and teach you have to achieve the perfect
contour using our Thanakha Radiant Bronzer.
Before applying any make up at all, you always need to prime your face. Every morning, I wash my face with a mild cleanser, apply toner, and then apply Oceanene Defense Gel and let it dry. Oceanene dries flat on your face to give you a perfect smooth base for applying your foundation.
After Oceanene dries, you can apply your liquid or power foundation how you would normally. I started with liquid foundation and mascara on and my brows already done. Squeeze just a few drops of Thanakha Radiant Bronzer onto the back of your hand. A little really goes a long way and this bronzer is very pigmented so make sure not to usetoo much; you don't want to waste any.
Start by finding the shadow under your cheek bones and apply three dots with your finger to each side. The dots should start under the outside corner of your eye and it should go all the way back into your hairline. Apply dots under your jaw bone and chin. Go all the way back to under your ears so you have a seamless jaw line. Make a line going from right under your inner brow down to the end of your nose. Dot along your hair line to your temples.
When it comes to blending, there’s many different tools you can use - I just used my fingers to show how simple it really is, but you can use any type of contouring brush or a beauty blender. With small circular motions, start blending the dots into your skin with two fingers under your cheek bones. It helps to see exactly where you want it if you make this funny kissy/fish face. The color should sit right under your cheek bones. For your jaw line, blend the dots in a circular motion and then down your neck. On your nose, blend the lines up and down your nose in a linear motion. Around your forehead, blend in circles and then push back into your hairline.
5. Set When you’ve blended the color and are pleased with the tone, go back and set your contouring with either a tinted powder or a translucent powder. I use a translucent veil powder to make everything look matte, soft, and more blended.
Other ways you can use Thanakha
[TIP] Mix into your moisturizer or sunscreen
On the days where you don't feel like putting ona full face of make up, mixing Thanakha with your moisturizer or sunscreen will give you alittle coverage and an amazing glow. The Thanakha ingredient will also help perfect your skin. Whenever I’m just going out to run errands, I mix my Oceanene Defense Gel with Thanakha. It’s so easy and quick, but makes me skin look instantly better.
[TIP] Mix with your liquid foundation
Being someone who is super tan in the summer but extremely pale in the winter, I always struggle with liquid foundation since my skin tone is constantly changing throughout the year. In the summer when you skin tone gets darker, you can mix it with Thanakha. The pigment allows you to customize your existing foundation and will give you a real glow. Even if you don’t need to change the color, adding just a drop with add a little shimmer and warmth to your skin.
